Otome Shinto is a female idol unit formed from members who appeared on the Nippon TV variety show Yokoso! Higashi-Ikebukuro Himawari-so. The group's strength lies in catchy, ultra-pop songs and approachable, down-to-earth performances, putting cuteness and youthful energy at the front of every stage. Their cheerful image quickly built up a loyal fanbase within the crowded idol scene of their era. They made their CD debut with Mouso Kokan Nikki, which had its lyrics written by Kenichi Maeyamada (also known as Hyadain) and was released as the opening theme for the anime GJ-bu. The song's comedic, instantly memorable melody fit perfectly with the relaxed, laid-back school comedy world of the series, helping both the group and the anime leave a lasting impression through their shared musical introduction to audiences.
