Hosaka is a memorable supporting character in the Minami-ke anime series, based on the slice-of-life manga by Koharu Sakuraba about the daily lives of the three Minami sisters. A muscular, unreasonably handsome high school boy with a fierce devotion to Haruka, the eldest Minami sister, Hosaka is famous for his wildly over-the-top fantasy sequences, his obsession with eating right, cooking healthy meals, and his habit of whipping off his shirt at the slightest provocation. The sheer intensity of his crush turns him into one of the series' most reliable sources of absurd comedy. He is voiced with gleeful theatricality by Daisuke Ono, who leans fully into the character's operatic delivery and turns every earnest speech into a comedic set piece. In character, Ono also performs Hosaka's unforgettable character songs, including "Christmas no Uta," "BBQ no Uta," and "Let's Oyasai," each one an uproarious, over-serious anthem about food that has become a cult treasure among Minami-ke fans.
