ALTIMA is a Japanese music unit formed when three distinctive figures from the anison scene joined forces: Sat (producer Satoshi Yaginuma of fripSide), MOTSU (the rapper from dance duo m.o.v.e), and vocalist Maon Kurosaki. The combination of Sat's driving electronic production, MOTSU's sharp rap verses, and Kurosaki's powerful female vocals produced a high-octane sound that fuses electro, rock, and hip-hop with the urgency of cutting-edge anime openings. Their debut smash was Burst The Gravity, the opening theme for the second arc of Accel World, which captured the adrenaline of the series' virtual-reality battles. They also delivered I'll believe and ONE for the ending themes of Shakugan no Shana III: Final, channeling the emotional climax of the long-running franchise. Though short-lived as a project, ALTIMA left a strong mark on anime music fans who remember them as a thrilling collision of three major talents at the peak of their powers.
