Mai Kuraki is a Japanese female singer-songwriter from Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture. Her 1999 debut single "Love, Day After Tomorrow" became a massive hit and immediately established her as a top artist with her polished, mellow R&B pop style. She is especially famous for performing numerous theme songs for the "Case Closed" (Detective Conan) anime franchise and holds the Guinness World Record for the most theme songs sung for a single TV series, loved for her elegant bilingual lyrics and crystalline voice.
