The Birthday is a Japanese garage rock band formed in 2005 and fronted by vocalist Yusuke Chiba, formerly of Thee Michelle Gun Elephant. The lineup began with Chiba (vocals/guitar), Akinobu Imai (guitar), Haruki Hirai (bass), and Kazuyuki Kuhara (drums). Known for Chiba's impassioned shout vocals, raw live performances, and poetic lyrics, the band captured the hearts of rock fans. Their anime tie-ups include "LOVE ROCKETS," the theme song for the anime film "THE FIRST SLAM DUNK."
