Megumi Hayashibara is a Japanese female voice actress and singer from Tokyo whose iconic roles include Rei Ayanami in "Neon Genesis Evangelion," Ranma Saotome in "Ranma 1/2," Ai Haibara in "Detective Conan," and Lina Inverse in "Slayers." Beginning her music career in 1989, she is recognized as the trailblazer who established the "voice-actress artist" as a category in Japan; her theme song "Give a reason" for "Slayers NEXT" was the first by a voice actress to crack the Oricon Top 10.
