NEWS is a Japanese male idol group originally under the former Johnny & Associates agency. Formed as a nine-member group in 2003 to serve as the image character for the FIVB Volleyball World Cup, they made their CD debut that November with "NEWS Nippon." After various lineup changes, they spent many years as a four-member group at the forefront of the idol scene, providing opening themes for anime such as "Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" and "Kindaichi Case Files Returns."
