A singer-songwriter from Mie Prefecture, regarded as one of Japan's leading male vocalists with a wide-ranging catalog of hits that spans heartfelt ballads such as 'Rakuen', 'Hitomi wo Tojite', 'Kimi wa Tomodachi', and 'POP STAR'. His song 'Boku no Kokoro wo Tsukutte yo', written and composed by Hirai himself with arrangement by Seiji Kameda, was used as the theme song for the film 'Doraemon: Nobita's Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi'. Marking his first theme song for an anime film, the mid-tempo ballad delicately portrays the unwavering bond between Doraemon and Nobita, drawn from inspiration he took from the screenplay.
