Merry is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Tokyo in 2001. With a five-member lineup of Gara (Vo), Yuu (G), Kenichi (G), Tetsu (B), and Nero (Dr), they have gained popularity through an intense sound containing melancholy and powerful performances including Gara's distinctive stage acts. For anime, they performed the early ending theme 'Saihate no Parade' for the sports anime 'Over Drive,' which depicts bicycle road racing, with vocalist Gara writing lyrics and Kenichi composing. The single was released as a double A-side with 'Blind Romance.' With a style fusing sentiment evocative of Showa-era kayokyoku with a loud band sound, they have built a unique position in the visual kei scene, including overseas tours.
