David Sylvian
Artist
David Sylvian is a male singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom. He rose to prominence in the late 1970s as the frontman of the band 'Japan', and after its breakup earned high international acclaim for his serene yet profound solo works incorporating ambient and experimental music. On the anime front, he performed 'for the love of life', the ending theme of the TV anime Monster, based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa. Co-written with soundtrack composer Kuniaki Haishima, the track's whispered vocals and minimalist arrangement cast deep shadows on the lingering impression of the main story, which continually questions the boundary between good and evil against the backdrop of postwar Europe, bringing a prayer-like stillness to the end credits.
