Sutherland is a Japanese rock band formed primarily by members from Yamagata Prefecture. Fronted by vocalist Yuya Abe, they operate around a hard-rock-leaning sound in which weighty guitar and bass support refreshing vocal lines. On the anime front, they performed 'Kimi to Nara', the opening theme of the TV anime Onmyou Taisenki, which grew out of Bandai's toy and card game tie-in project. Set in a modern-day battle fantasy spun by the young Toshinshi warrior Riku Tachibana and his partner shikigami 'Kogenta of the White Tiger', the song's straightforward drive and lyrics of earnest feelings overlap with the image of the heroes fighting alongside their companions, making it an iconic theme song for the first half of the series.
