Theatrical feature released by Shochiku in March 1988, produced by Sunrise. Written, directed and originally conceived by Yoshiyuki Tomino, it is the first wholly original Gundam film, set in Universal Century 0093 as Earth Federation pilot Amuro Ray and reborn Neo Zeon leader Char Aznable face their final reckoning over the Axis asteroid drop plan. The TM NETWORK theme song BEYOND THE TIME helped propel the film into pop-culture history.
