Theatrical anime released by Toho in March 1988, produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The ninth Movie Doraemon film, directed by Tsutomu Shibayama with a screenplay by Ryo Motohira, sees Gianni's adoration for Sun Wukong inspire Doraemon and Nobita to use gadgets to leap into the real Journey to the West universe. When they return, modern Tokyo has been transformed into a parallel world ruled by demons. It is the only feature without a manga version due to creator Fujiko F. Fujio's health.
