Sports anime that began on TV Asahi in April 1988, produced by Shin-Ei Animation. As the latter-half continuation of Fujiko Fujio A's long-running Pro Golfer Saru manga, the series follows the prodigy boy golfer Sarumaru, raised deep in the mountains, as he challenges top players at tournaments armed with his signature flag-wrapping shot. His wild swing inherited from his father, his mysterious feud with Mister X, and the human dramas unfolding on the greens give the show its appeal, presenting a serious take on golf rare among children's sports anime.
