Inspired by the floating island in Jonathan Swift's 'Gulliver's Travels', it follows mining-town boy Pazu and the mysterious girl Sheeta as they evade Dola's airborne pirates and government agents in their search for the legendary sky castle. Steampunk machinery, idyllic countryside vistas and Joe Hisaishi's epic score make it one of the most cherished adventure romances in the Ghibli canon.
