A theatrical SF anime by Kadokawa adapting Takashi Mayumura's novel. A school bus full of junior-high students on a field trip is hurled across Japan's history, witnessing Oda Nobunaga's Incident at Honno-ji, the Meiji Restoration and the Tokyo air raids of WWII in a turbulent pilgrimage through time. Shoujo manga icon Moto Hagio designed the characters and Mamoru Masaki directed, while Mariya Takeuchi's specially written theme songs 'Toki no Tabibito' and 'Time Stranger' lend the film its distinctive ambient pop coloring.
