TV special anime produced by Shin-Ei Animation, based on the golf manga by Fujiko Fujio A serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday. Broadcast as a 2-hour special on TV Asahi on October 19, 1982. The story follows mountain-raised golf prodigy Sarumaru in a fated duel against the masked golfer 'Mr. X', with memorable voice performances by Masako Nozawa as Sarumaru and Genzo Wakayama as Mr. X. This TV special paved the way for the 1985 TV series adaptation. The theme song 'Yume wo Kachitorou' was performed by Ichiro Mizuki with lyrics by Fujiko Fujio and music by Asei Kobayashi.
