A television special anime produced by Toei Doga and broadcast on Fuji TV's 'Nissay Family Special' slot, an extended one-off adaptation of Maurice Leblanc's classic 'The Blonde Lady' (also published as 'Arsene Lupin contre Herlock Sholmes'), which famously pitted his gentleman thief Lupin against a thinly disguised Sherlock Holmes. Set in late nineteenth-century Europe, the film follows a series of bewildering jewel thefts orbiting the mysterious 'blonde lady,' as the dashing master thief Arsene Lupin (voiced by Taichiro Hirokawa) and the celebrated detective Sherlock Holmes (voiced by Shingo Yamashiro) match wits in an elegant battle of traps, deductions and improvisations. Featuring refined character designs by Yoshiyuki Kishi and a stylish jazz score by Hiroki Tamaki and his Jazz Friends, the special exudes a sophisticated, grown-up atmosphere unusual for the Nissay Family Special lineup.
