A television anime produced by Knack Productions and broadcast on Tokyo 12 Channel (now TV Tokyo) as a children's slice-of-life fantasy series. Sue Cat began life as the cat character drawn on the jacket of the 1979 hit children's song 'Sue Cat Song'; this anime was developed as the first major media-mix expansion of that character. The bright and irrepressibly curious female cat Sue Cat lives with her human family and animal friends, and each episode mixes everyday warmth, modest mischief, gentle adventures and the occasional excursion into dream worlds and fantasy realms. Yayoi Tsuruoka's catchy theme song 'Yumemiru Sue Cat,' together with the show's pastel character and colour design aimed at young girls, made Sue Cat an emblematic late-Showa cute-character anime.
