A television anime produced by Shin-Ei Animation and broadcast on the TV Asahi network, adapting the popular monster-comedy manga by Fujiko Fujio (Fujiko Fujio A). It is the color-animation version of the property. Kaibutsu-kun, prince of Monster Land, comes to the human world accompanied by his retainers Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein, training to become a worthy king while befriending the boy Hiroshi and others. Built around episodes in which the group confronts the schemes of the world-conquering demon organization Demonish, the series is a lively family-oriented gag comedy showcasing Kaibutsu-kun's mischief and kindness alongside the slapstick of his colorful companions. It was Shin-Ei Animation's second Fujiko anime following Doraemon, airing in a weekly thirty-minute regular slot, and it fully renews the production team, voice cast, and theme songs compared with the 1968-69 monochrome first series.
