A television anime produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and broadcast on the Nippon Television network, adapting Mitsuteru Yokoyama's pioneering giant-robot manga, the second animated series following the 1963 monochrome original. The boy detective Shotaro Kaneda controls Tetsujin 28-go, a remote-controlled giant robot left to him by his late father, confronting scheming evil organizations and armies of giant robots. This version relocates the setting to a future city, introducing new elements such as a society powered by widespread solar energy and the family of Dr. Shikishima, substantially altering the original and the first series. Tetsujin's design was also renewed into a heavier, more super-robot-like form. Broadcast under the retitled name Taiyo no Shisha Tetsujin 28-go, it stands as a notable entry in the history of Yokoyama robot anime.
