A television anime produced by Wako Production and broadcast on Tokyo Channel 12 (now TV Tokyo), a children's road-movie work. Following the strong response to a one-shot special (pilot version) aired in April of the same year, it was developed into a regular television series. Based on Morimi Murano's manga Hoero Bobo, the title was changed to Hoero Bun Bun out of consideration for broadcasting standards. Bun Bun, a small male puppy abandoned by his owner soon after birth, journeys in search of his mother dog, growing strong through many trials as he meets the gentle old dog Nora, many other dogs, and humans along the way. A heartwarming children's anime that depicts the preciousness of life and the trials of the road from an animal's point of view, it was given new theme songs distinct from those of the one-shot special.
