A television anime co-produced by Nack (now ICHI) and Tokyo Channel 12, broadcast on Tokyo Channel 12 (now TV Tokyo), a period-action comedy. It adapts for children the story of the fictional ninja Sarutobi Sasuke, a nationally beloved figure who appeared in the Tachikawa Bunko popular novels of the Taisho era. Set in the early seventeenth century, when Tokugawa Ieyasu, victorious at the Battle of Sekigahara, was moving to rule the whole country, it follows the boy ninja Sarutobi Sasuke, who serves Sanada Yukimura of Shinano Province and, together with comrades of the Sanada Ten Braves such as Kirigakure Saizo and Miyoshi Seikai Nyudo, confronts enemy schemes using ninjutsu. Weaving training, humor, and exhilarating ninja battles, it brightly depicts Sasuke's growth and the bonds among comrades, and is also known for its lively theme songs by Masayuki Yamamoto.
