A theatrical anime film produced by Toei Doga (now Toei Animation). Based on Miyoko Matsutani's tale Taro the Dragon Boy, this 75-minute feature was released by Toei on March 17, 1979. Directed by live-action filmmaker Kirio Urayama, it is a Japanese-folktale fantasy in which the once-lazy boy Taro journeys to find his mother, who has been transformed into a dragon, gaining courage and kindness through encounters and trials.
