A TV special anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. Based on Maurice Leblanc's 813, this roughly 90-minute work aired as a one-off special program on the Fuji TV network on May 5, 1979. The gentleman thief Arsene Lupin takes on a mystery-adventure surrounding the murder of the magnate Kesselbach, the ciphers '813' and 'APOON,' and a vast secret conspiracy. Directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa, with Yuji Nunokawa on direction and character designs by Ippei Kuri and Yoshitaka Amano. Adapted for children yet relatively faithful to the original structure, it later received a theatrical release. Lupin was voiced by Katsuo Nakamura. (C)Tatsunoko Production
