A TV anime produced by Asahi Production. Based on the manga of the same name by Haruomi Tomotsuka, serialized on KADOKAWA's Kadocomi (ComicWalker) and Nico Nico Manga. The work is a new-sensation occult comedy inspired by "Kankandara", a horror tale long passed down on a Japanese occult message board; for its commercial serialization the name of the curse deity was changed to "Yamatagimadara". Hyuga and Kaoru, siblings born into the Misogiya family that has guarded a forbidden "cursed ground" deep in a mountain village for generations, venture into the taboo place one stormy night and encounter the giant serpent-bodied curse deity Yamatagimadara. Yet rather than fearing the apparition, the two affectionately call it "Dara-san" and quickly take to it. Thus begins the noisy yet heartfelt everyday life woven by Dara-san, who carries a sorrowful past, and the free-spirited siblings, with the running gag that the supernatural ends up playing straight man to the fearless pair.
