100万年地球の旅 バンダーブック
ひゃくまんねんちきゅうのたび バンダーブック
Aired: 1978
A TV-special anime produced by Tezuka Productions, a roughly two-hour feature broadcast within the first edition of Nippon TV's charity marathon 24-Hour Television. Conceived, structured, and directed by Osamu Tezuka, it is known as Japan's first two-hour TV anime. A scientist who resists racial discrimination and environmental destruction is assassinated, and his infant son escapes in an artificial-hibernation capsule. Drifting to the distant planet Zobi, the baby is taken in by a queen and named Bander, learning the secret of his birth seventeen years later. After an encounter with a space pirate he travels back a million years to Earth, confronting a human history ruled by fear. It is a landmark work fusing the ethos of a charity program with Tezuka's signature humanism.
