A TV anime produced by Toei Doga, broadcast on NHK General TV, a space adventure based on Edmond Hamilton's SF novel series Captain Future. Curtis Newton, alias Captain Future, the foremost scientist and adventurer of the solar system, confronts crime and conspiracy threatening space alongside the Futuremen: the living robot Grag, the android Otho, and the living brain Professor Simon. Retaining the flavor of classic space opera while establishing a distinctive world through weighty mecha depiction and Yuji Ono's jazz-rich score, it became a cult masterpiece that retained tenacious popularity for years afterward.
