The witch Chikkuru of the magical realm has been sealed inside a picture book and is freed by Chiko Komori, an ordinary fifth-grade girl. The two come to live together as sisters under one roof, and as Chikkuru conceals her true nature while attending school, she learns the value of human kindness, friendship and compassion. Centered on the everyday slapstick set off by Chiko's easygoing personality and Chikkuru's cheerful magic, it warmly depicts bonds with family and friends. Part of the lineage of late-1970s magical-girl shows, distinguished by the comedic touch characteristic of a Go Nagai original.
