While the Earth Federation government averts its eyes from reality, the freedom-loving space pirate Captain Harlock throws himself, almost alone, into a fight to protect human dignity, sailing his beloved skull-bannered ship Arcadia with a crew who each carry their own burdens. Through robust drama and grand cosmic romance it portrays Harlock's friendship with Tochiro, his fateful ties to a mysterious Mazone girl, and his creed of living and dying under the flag he believes in, becoming a cornerstone of the enduring Leiji Matsumoto universe.
