A giant-robot anime produced by Nippon Sunrise with Toei involvement, one of director Tadao Nagahama's Romance Robot series. The Baam aliens, having lost their home planet, arrive in the solar system seeking a new world, but when their peace envoy is assassinated, the situation escalates into all-out war between Earth and the Baam. Karate master Kazuya Ryuzaki throws himself into Earth's defense piloting the transforming robot Daimos, only to learn that Erika, the girl he met and fell in love with amid the fighting, is the sister of the enemy Baam commander. Built around the tragic, Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired romance of two young people torn between opposing sides, and distinguished by karate-based combat choreography, it is remembered as the culmination of Nagahama's Romance Robot dramas.
