Invincible Super Man Zambot 3

A robot anime produced by Nippon Sunrise (now Sunrise), based on the original concept by Yoshitake Suzuki and Yoshiyuki Tomino (then known as Yoshiyuki Tomino). This is Tomino's first solo directorial work on a full TV series. Middle schooler Kappei Jin discovers he is descended from aliens whose home planet was destroyed by Gaizock, who now target Earth. The Jin family pilots the combining robot Zambot 3, but the series explores tragic themes of human bombs, persecution by Earthlings, and the meaning of sacrifice across 23 episodes.
