Rascal the Raccoon

A TV anime produced by Nippon Animation, the third installment in the World Masterpiece Theater series. Based on Sterling North's memoir "Rascal: A Memoir of a Better Era," the series depicts 11-year-old Sterling in early 20th-century rural Wisconsin who rescues and raises a baby raccoon named Rascal after his mother's death. The story portrays the warm bond between boy and animal, and the bittersweet need to return Rascal to the wild across 52 episodes.
