In late 19th-century California, Native American boy Ran raises orphaned cub Jackie and his sister Jill after a white hunter kills their mother. The series depicts the conflict between nature and humanity, animal ecology, and pioneer-native tensions across 26 warm yet sometimes harsh episodes.
