A robot anime co-produced by Toei and Nippon Sunrise (Soeisha), based on the original work by Saburo Yatsude. Directed by Tadao Nagahama, this is the first entry in the Roman Robot series, followed by "Voltes V" and "Daimos." To combat the invading Campbellians, Dr. Yotsuya develops Combattler V, formed by the Choudenji combination of five battle machines piloted by Hyoma, Juzo, Chizuru, Kosuke, and Daisaku, against Garuda's Slave Beast army. As the pioneer of five-unit combining robots, it influenced the entire genre. 54 episodes.
