Vicky the Viking

A Japanese-German co-production TV anime by Zuiyo Enterprise and Taurus Film, based on Runer Jonsson's "Vicke Viking" (1963). Vicke, a physically weak but clever boy from the Viking village Flake, joins his father Halvar's crew on grand adventures. Rather than swords or strength, he uses inspiration and wit to overcome challenges against the backdrop of Nordic nature and seas. The pioneering "small hero" protagonist influenced later Miyazaki works. 78 episodes.
