An SF anime produced by Toei Doga (Toei Animation), based on Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga. Modern boy Koichi Furumi inherits the bloodline of ancient Babylonian space being Babel I and awakens as Babel II with telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation powers. From the Tower of Babel in the Gobi Desert, with three servants—the giant bird Lopross, robot Poseidon, and shape-shifting panther Rodem—he battles psychic conqueror Yomi to defend Earth. A pioneering psychic battle SF work, later remade as 1992 OVA and 2001 TV series. 39 episodes.
