A fable-like TV anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. Poor tree frog boy Demetan endures bullying with his kind girlfriend Ranatan in Lanatopia Pond ruled by the tyrannical Gavagon. Set in a frog world, the series addresses family, friendship, first love, class disparity, and discrimination with characteristic Tatsunoko allegory. Total directing by Tatsuo Yoshida with character design by Tadao Yoshida; its melancholic and lyrical worldview was unusual for its time. 39 episodes.
