The Adventures of Rocky Chuck
Aired: 1973
A TV anime produced by Zuiyo Enterprise, based on Thornton W. Burgess's "The Adventures of Rocky Chuck the Marmot" (1913-1925). Young Rocky Chuck, a forest marmot, grows from timid beginnings through friendship with girlfriend Polly Chuck and rabbit friend Ponky in the green forest. The series warmly depicts natural beauty alongside its harsh realities. The third Calpis Manga Theater entry, precursor to the World Masterpiece Theater that began with the 1974 "Heidi." 52 episodes.
