A baseball spo-kon anime produced by Tokyo Movie, based on the manga by Ikki Kajiwara and Ko Inoue. Poor southpaw pitcher Ban Bamba from a mountain village joins the Yomiuri Giants and faces destined rivals like his father's killer. Crafting increasingly outrageous techniques—Doppelganger Pitch, Great Rotation Pitch, High Jump Pitch—he fights to the top with samurai-spirit defiance. Kajiwara's dramatic plotting and direction by Osamu Dezaki and Tadao Nagahama made it a celebrated work. 46 episodes.
