A hero battle anime produced by Toei Doga (Toei Animation), based on Go Nagai's manga in Weekly Shonen Magazine. Kind high schooler Akira Fudo, guided by friend Ryo Asuka, merges with the demon warrior Devilman to fight the demon race protecting humanity. The TV adaptation focuses on hero battles against the Yojuu Demon army, diverging significantly from the manga's apocalyptic narrative. The OP "Devilman no Uta" became one of the most enduring anime theme songs. 39 episodes.
