A historical "animentary" (animation + documentary) anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. The series depicts tactical decisions by Japanese Imperial Navy commanders in the Pacific War in self-contained episodes featuring Isoroku Yamamoto, Chuichi Nagumo, Takeo Kurita, and others through Pearl Harbor, Midway, Leyte Gulf and other battles. Tatsunoko's ambitious experiment beyond children's entertainment, presenting war as educational history rather than spectacle. 26 episodes.
