An SF children's anime produced by Tezuka Productions, based on Osamu Tezuka's "Mamaa-chan" (reworked as "Fushigi na Melmo"). Nine-year-old Melmo, who lost her mother in an accident, uses blue and red Miracle Candy from her heavenly mother to transform into adult form or animals, supporting her young brothers Totoo and Tatchin. Tezuka tackled difficult themes like sex education and life's origins with warm sensitivity. The image of Melmo transformed into an adult by the blue candy left a powerful impression on children. 26 episodes.
