A martial arts spo-kon anime produced by Toei Doga (Toei Animation), based on the manga by Ikki Kajiwara and Kentaro Nakajo. Adapting the life of real kickboxer Tadashi Sawamura, the series follows Sawamura's journey from Kyokushin karate into the new kickboxing world, mastering the "Vacuum Flying Knee Kick" en route to the championship. Sawamura was simultaneously a real kickboxing superstar, with TV broadcasts and the anime synergistically driving the kickboxing boom. A rare example of a spo-kon anime based on a contemporaneous real athlete. 26 episodes.
