A spo-kon gag anime produced by Tatsunoko Production, based on Noboru Kawasaki's manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Country boy Daizaemon Kaze, devoted to judo, moves from Aomori to Tokyo and trains under "Nyanko-sensei," a master cat instructor, battling rivals on his quest for Japan's judo championship. Famous for unique onomatopoeia like "Tonpyu~," distinctive Aomori dialect, and alternating serious matches with deflating gags. The OP sung by then-14-year-old Yoshimi Tendo became her debut single hit. 104 episodes.
