Positioned as a successor and reboot of the 1965 series Dolphin Prince - Japan's first full-fledged 30-minute color TV anime - it is a maritime adventure following the human boy Marine (voiced by Noriko Ohara), the mermaid girl Neptina, and the white dolphin Whitey as they fight evil to protect the seven seas. The supporting cast included voice actors such as Masako Nozawa, Nachi Nozawa, and Takuzo Kamiyama, who would later become luminaries of the field. Its distinctive depictions of undersea machinery and creatures captivated young viewers of the time, marking the work as one of the foundational entries in the maritime anime genre.
