Sobakasu Pucchi

A TV anime produced by Fuji TV Enterprises. Original concept by Takashi Aoki. Broadcast in 162 short episodes on Fuji TV from March 31 to October 4, 1969 in a five-minute daily slot (Monday through Saturday, 18:55-19:00). The series depicts in comedic style the rivalry between Pucchi (voiced by Sachiko Chichimatsu), a small but strong-willed boy with a keen sense of justice, and his greedy nemesis Waruji (voiced by Joji Yanami) who hatches one scheme after another. Sponsored solely by Meiji Dairies, the show featured Cup-Go, a land-sea-air capable mecha that ran on milk - an early example of merchandise-tied storytelling. Despite its short format, the high broadcast frequency made it a fixture of family dinner-time viewing of the era. (C)Fuji TV Enterprises
