Dokachin
Aired: 1968 - 1969
A TV anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. Based on an original concept led by Tatsuo Yoshida, broadcast in a weekly 15-minute, two-segment format for 26 episodes (52 segments) on the Fuji TV network from October 2, 1968 to March 26, 1969. The comedy follows Dokachin (voiced by Meiko Nakamura), a prehistoric boy who time-slips into the modern era, along with his family and pet mammoth Tototo, as they cause slapstick havoc across various modern-day settings. Notably, Meiko Nakamura handled both the voice acting and singing for the lead, while supporting roles featured later Tatsunoko regulars such as Takuzo Kamiyama, Joji Yanami, and Yoshiko Matsuo. Following Mach GoGoGo and Oraa Guzura Dado, this was Tatsunoko's next foray into gag anime, and together with Seiichiro Uno's humorous compositions it represents the establishment period of the studio's gag line.
