A TV anime produced by Tatsunoko Pro. Based on the original concept led by Tatsuo Yoshida, broadcast in 52 episodes on the Fuji TV network from October 7, 1967 to September 25, 1968. The South Pole monster 'Guzura' (voiced by Toru Ohira) moves in with the Tokyo boy Koboru-kun and causes hilarious uproars in human society. Guzura, who eats anything (especially loves coal), has a carefree and lovable personality contrasted with the poacher Dr. Dongara who hunts him, forming the narrative axis. As Tatsunoko Pro's second major long-running series after Mach GoGoGo, it represents the formative period of the 'Tatsunoko gag lineage' leading to Science Ninja Team Gatchaman and the Time Bokan series. Guzura's distinctive characterization by Toru Ohira was beloved by children of the era, and a color remake titled New Ora Guzura Dado was produced in 1987. (C)Tatsunoko Production
