A TV anime produced by Mushi Production. Based on Osamu Tezuka's manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Sunday. Broadcast in 52 episodes on the Fuji TV network from June 6, 1965 to June 27, 1966. The Galactic Federation, deliberating whether to destroy Earth, dispatches three investigators transformed into animal forms to judge the planet's worth. Bocco (voiced by Fuyumi Shiraishi, a rabbit), Nokko (voiced by Nobuaki Sekine, a duck), and Pukko (voiced by Shingo Kanemoto, a horse) interact with the boy Shinichi (voiced by Reiko Takasaka) and his older brother, a Phoenix international secret police agent (voiced by Isamu Tanonaka), as they work to prevent wars and evil deeds across the world in this Tezuka-style SF juvenile work. The work is also known for the 'W3 Incident,' a broadcast rights dispute between Fuji TV and TBS that led Mushi Production to transition to TBS, and is regarded as one of the representative works in which Tezuka was deeply involved in direction.
